Commercial vehicle passengers ok for insurance?

Whats the deal with passengers in a commercial vehicle when it comes to insurance obligations? Would insurance still cover my work van no problem in the event of a crash? We're in California...

I believe that most commercial vehicle insurance policies will still cover damage to the vehicle itself, and potentially the other vehicle
